What is an awareness game, an educational game, or a learning simulation?
It is a medium that combines the playfulness of games with educational objectives. It uses game mechanics and situational simulations to influence behavior, convey knowledge, or develop skills, providing an immersive experience to make learning more interactive and engaging.
Awareness game
These games aim to influence behavior and raise awareness on sensitive issues.
Educational objectives
- Change behaviors
- Increase awareness of important issues
- Promote social and ethical values
- Develop empathy
- Encourage civic engagement
Examples
- Health: A game to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of chronic diseases.
- Environment: An interactive game to understand the impacts of energy choices on the climate.
- Road Safety: A driving simulation to highlight the dangers of the road.
- Sex Education: A narrative game to help adolescents understand and manage healthy relationships.
- Human Rights: A role-playing game to raise awareness about the rights of marginalized groups.
- Drugs and Addictions: A strategy game to illustrate the consequences of addictions and risky behaviors.
Educational game
Ces jeux sont conçus pour enseigner des connaissances ou des compétences spécifiques de manière ludique.
Educational objectives
- Teach specific knowledge (mathematics, science, languages, etc.)
- Develop basic skills (reading, writing, arithmetic, etc.)
- Promote learning through practice and repetition
- Stimulate critical thinking and problem-solving
Examples
Learning simulation
These simulations are used to train students and professionals by replicating real-life situations.
Educational objectives
- Train in specific practical and technical skills (medicine, engineering, services, etc.)
- Simulate complex and varied real-life situations
- Practice and refine procedures safely
- Develop decision-making and stress management in critical situations
- Allow experimentation in a controlled environment without risk
Examples
- Medicine: A realistic simulator for training healthcare professionals in emergency protocols.
- Higher Education: A simulator for laboratory practicals, enabling the manipulation of instruments, conducting experiments, and analyzing results.
- Agriculture: A simulator for teaching agricultural management practices, equipment use, and sustainable cultivation techniques.
- Craftsmanship: A simulator for training electricians in wiring techniques, troubleshooting, and adhering to electrical safety standards.
- Industrial Safety: A simulator for training employees in safety protocols and emergency response on industrial sites.
- Business: A business simulation for learning management, marketing, and financial strategies.
Benefits for Education and Training
Digital learning games and simulations can be used in the classroom as educational tools provided by the teacher, using a computer connected to a projector to support face-to-face training, facilitate workshops, or conduct practical exercises.
They can also be made available to students via tablets in self-service settings or through their personal smartphones to extend learning beyond the classroom.
Immersion and engagement
- Interactive and immersive experience
- Stimulating environment that promotes active learning
- Use of game mechanics to enhance information retention
Personalization and Adaptability
- Ability to customize learning based on the learner's needs and pace
- Dynamic and personalized scenarios based on the learner's actions
Safety and Repetition
- Repetitive and safe training without consequences for individuals or equipment
- Practice without real-world consequences, allowing for learning through trial and error
Feedback and Monitoring
- Instant feedback and the ability to adapt content based on progress
- Access to dashboards for tracking progress and adjusting learning paths
Inclusive Learning
It is designed to be accessible to everyone, allowing each person to learn at their own pace.
Offline Learning
It can be played offline, at any time and in any location of your choice.
Scalable Learning
It allows reaching a very large population of individuals.
Our No-Code Production Studio
Our no-code studio allows for the graphical design of educational games and learning simulations, and generates them automatically without writing a single line of code, in as many languages as needed.
It enables the creation of visual and animated environments, as well as the storyboards of games and simulations in the form of flowcharts, regardless of their complexity.
The generated modules are in SCORM format, making them compatible with most LMS (Learning Management System) platforms on the market, such as Moodle.
Situation Simulator
An educational game or learning simulation recreates the learner's living or working environment and presents them, based on the educational objectives to be achieved, with a series of cases or situations. During these scenarios, the learner must make choices, take decisions, and experience the consequences of those decisions.
For example:
- A primary school student might solve a series of problems to learn how to apply their math knowledge to everyday life.
- A livestock producer might face various events affecting their animals—such as illness, gestation, and birth—and must make the right decisions to save the animal or ensure the newborn's health.
- A midwife might handle a series of difficult deliveries, needing to perform appropriate care actions to revive babies, while repeatedly simulating scenarios to develop reflexes.
This is why our "player," which runs the scenarios created by the studio, includes a simulator.
